• There are lots of techniques and a bit of a science to getting your website found on Google.  I am going to do my best to explain some of the most simple and basic things to increase rankings.  If the information I have given you here doesn’t do the trick, it is best to hire a professional. Hiring an SEO Company that knows what to do and NOT do will help you. You must follow Google’s rules if you want to play in their “sand box”.

• Getting your website to page one of Google is like hitting PAYDIRT, IF the search term you rank for is a term people other than yourself are searching for.  I have heard more times than I can tell you, “my website comes up on page 1!”   Yes it comes up on page one, but only when you type in some “long tail search term like “online printing companies located in Dublin, CA”.   I am willing to bet that my printing company PrinterBees would come up somewhere on page one for this term without any effort.  Just a hunch as it would be the most “relevant result” for that search.

• “Long tail search terms” like stated won’t help your cause, and you don’t want to focus on a search term you will never stand a chance of ranking for like “printing”or “mortgage”, which is very generic and highly competitive.

• For my printing business, it would be crazy for us to think we could get the term “business cards” as a newer online business.   Because we print business cards for companies like Keller Williams, Century 21, ACN, Herbalife, Mona.vie and specialize in real estate printing or real estate marketing these would be good terms to focus on and not as competitive.  While they don’t have the traffic and the search volume that a term like “business cards” would have, it will help us gain popularity when we rank and improve our Google Ranking which will in turn help us rank for more popular terms moving forward.

• Because I really do want you to see that what I am explaining here really does work, I encourage you to “Google” the terms I have listed above so you can see that we really do rank on page one of those particular search terms.  At the time of writing this article, we are working on other terms to improve our rankings.  Those terms are “bookmark printing”, “print bookmarks”, “online printing’,  “business card printing”, “door hanger printing”, color flyer printing”, “hang tag printing”, “save the date magnets” and a few others that I can’t think of at the moment.  Feel free anytime to check our progress, I feel the best way to teach is to lead by example.

• A few words about Google and why Google matters so much to your success on the Internet.  Think of Google as a librarian, a really busy librarian!  This particular librarian sends you business….lots of business and you aren’t even required to pay a fee for all the business the librarian sends you!  It is all FREE!!!!   (Yes, you can do pay per click, but why when you get traffic for FREE)  We all use Google because we can pretty much always find what we are looking for when we “google” something, right?  Would you keep using Google if every time  you went to search for something, you didn’t find what you were looking for?  Not a chance!  So, if Google wants us to keep coming back, and they do…they have to consistently give us good and relative results or we will find a new “internet librarian” to help us.  The only way that Google can continue to give “googlers” accurate search results is if we, as website owners/webmasters do a good job of communicating to Google exactly what our websites are about and help Google to understand what categories our websites should be filed under.  If Google isn’t clear where your website should be indexed, it is most likely just sitting out there in cyberspace not accomplishing anything for you other than being printed on your business cards, fliers, banners, postcards or other printed materials you use to market your business.  Your marketing efforts in this day and age should include some sort of Internet marketing plan and if it doesn’t, you will be eventually left behind, sorry to say that, but it is true. The Internet has well over 2 BILLION searches done on it every month and if you think your services or business offerings aren’t being searched, you are definitely still living in the early 1990’s.

• This video produced by Google in late 2008 helps to explain how to “speak Google”, get ranked on Google and more importantly how NOT to spam the search engines and lower your rankings. Google wants you to succeed and they will give you very specific instructions if you just listen to what they have to say and more importantly FOLLOW THE RULES.

There are a few steps that need to happen before you actually begin blogging. They can all be completed within an hour.
The Step are written out and followed by images with instructions.

1. Identify a domain name – make sure to read the post about choosing a domain name. VERY important to have the RIGHT domain name.
2. Now that you own your domain name, you need to point it to a “domain name server” DNS server, so it is available on the internet, so you will need hosting.
   (see a video tutorial of how to register your domain name AND how to point your DNS servers)
3. Set up your hosting account. – Hostgators is by far the easiest and cheap too!   Once you register, you will receive an emiail with your log in address for your CPANEL so that you can log in and begin setting things up.  It will also provide the information regarding your DNS servers.
4. Log in to your CPANEL using the web address provided.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and you will see an icon that says “fantastico”, click it
6. On the right  you will see a list of available services, click the one that says “WordPress” and the available Word Press services will come up on the right.
7. Click  New Installation. Create your user name and password for your blog.  It is a good idea to make your password strong, strong meaning a combination of numbers, letters and characters if possible.  Follow the steps that you are prompted to follow.  Make sure to have your user name and password emailed to you.
8. Log in to your blog using the link that you were advised to make sure and bookmark, which will take you to your blog “dashboard”.
9. Click “Create Post” and start blogging….and KEEP BLOGGING.  I know you probably don’t care for the look of your blog at this point, but don’t worry, we will fix that.  When you first launch your blog, you won’t have many visitors, so trust me, don’t worry about the look….JUST BLOG!
10. Go to the video section of the website to learn how customize by creating your template.

I have finally completed reading this great report by Brian Clark of CopyBlogger and would definitely encourage you to read “the Authority Report”.  It is only about 20 pages long and the report has some really fantastic information in it on what to include in your blog, how to attract readers and why you NEED to be generous with giving away what you know.

I have said many times that I was put on this Earth to teach and teaching is what I will do with my life.  After reading “The Authority Report” what I already knew as my truth is absolutely true.  I am happy to share what I know, knowing that what goes around comes around.  I can only hope that what I share brings value to you as you build your on-line business.

One of my web properties is PrinterBees, which I am terribly proud of AND want to share how I have gotten to page 1 for many search terms over the last year.  I have been blessed with good friends and mentors who have taught me much about Google and the power of the Internet and I hope to pass along to you what I have learned, which has definitely increased my traffic and increased my business over the year.

I really do subscribe to one of my favorite quotes by one of my favorite speaker/authors, Zig Ziglar.  “You can have everything in life you want, if you help enough other people get what they want”.  How true is that!

The best way to learn is to read blog posts from other bloggers you respect.  Problogger is on of my favorites…he has great info! Darren aka problogger has recommendedd this read if you want to grow your known and respected “authority” on your subject.  If Darren recommends it, I read it!

Setting up Google Alerts

When you are struggling to figure out something to blog about, I often turn to my trusted Google Alerts to see what other bloggers are blogging. I wanted to share this with you to make sure you are keeping up with what Google finds daily on your subject matter. I also encourage you to set up a Google Alert with your name, your blog name, or anything else you feel you should be alerted about.

Here is how to you do it. You need to create a Google Account. If you look at the top right corner of your Google home page, you will see an option to create an account. This will give you access to all kinds of tools Google has that are completely free. Once you are logged in, you will see a bunch of different tools available, you are searching for “Alerts”.

Another easy way to find “Google Alerts”, is just to Google it! It will be the first result you find at the top of your search. Click it.  Click here, I Googled it for you!

The easiest way to understand how cool Google Alerts are is to set up an alert with your own name. Setting up the alert means Google will send you an alert every time it finds your name, once a day or once a week. Choose whatever seems to be best for you. “As it happens” really is a bit overwhelming if you read them….but it also lets you know if Google is finding you, your site, your key words or whatever it is you wish to be alerted about. Once you set up the alert, you just need to tell Google where to email it.

Because one of my web businesses is PrinterBees, an onling printing company, I have many alerts regarding key words like business cards, post cards, online printing, brochures and of coarse “PrinterBees”. It also keeps me aware of any potential “bad press” so I can deal with it immediately. This is one of many great tools that Google has to offer. Make sure to subscribe to the RSS Feed for this site because I have many more cool tools coming your way. Remember, my purpose on this Earth is to teach people, and you have to subscribe to the RSS to make sure you get all of my “tid bits”.

Blogging about your passions and following what you were meant to do. And I mean that literally. Have you taken the time to really go inside yourself and figure out what exactly you were put on this Earth to do? My realization really came to me one day pretty recently when I was reading a book by one of my favorite authors. Dr. Wayne Dyer, who you will often find providing lectures and speaking engagements on PBS. If you have never tuned in to hear him speak, I cannot begin to tell you the impact he has had in my own life, helping me to be self reflective and be true to myself. The last book of his I read was about being your true self and about following what you were meant to do. As I read this book, it became very clear to me, what I have pretty much always known. I was meant to teach people. I don’t think I am cut out to teach children, though I do love children, I don’t think I have the gift of patience needed to be a school teacher. I KNOW that I was put on this Earth to teach people how to follow their passions, to listen and pay attention o their souls and what it is saying to each of us. I hope to inspire you obtain whatever it is that gives you the greatest satisfaction in anyway that I can. I’m not saying that you should leave your responsibilities and join the circus. I am talking about exploring what your soul says to you, learning about it, exploring it and seeing how it can fit within your life while still acting responsibly. One of the greatest gifts I have received from Dr. Wayne Dyer was given to me on tape when I was about 27, by my good friend Steve Toarmina. The tape was called “choosing your own greatness” and I have listened to that tape more times than I can tell you and unfortunately it is no longer in production. I wore mine out and have tried to find it many times with no luck. Most of his writing leads back to the same type of message, which is there are no limits to what you are capable of. You REALLY CAN DO ANYTHING you set your mind to…ANYTHING! I think Mr President Obama has really showed the whole world that anything is possible…anything.

I really would love to hear from you what you dream of and what actions you are taking to lead you in the direction of accomplishing what you most dream of.

I’ll always be happy to start. I really do dream of being able to play a musical instrument and I wish to learn how to play the guitar. I wanted to learn how to play piano, but couldn’t seem to fit in the practicing with all my other obligations. I do still plan to learn how to play and hope that because a guitar is a bit more portable, I will somehow be able to fit it in. If it is important enough to me, I will make time for it and so you will you.

My wish for you is blessings and believing in yourself that anything is possible if you are committed.

One of the bloggers who I like to keep up with is Darren of ProBlogger.com, I subscribe to his blog and read it religiously because he is good at what he does and the information he provides is GOOD STUFF!   I just finished reading today’s post and Darren has recommended this read as a great way to grow your authority on any given subject.  Frankly, he with the “biggest pile” should be respected and for their expertise, so I plan to read this book immediately.  I have downloaded the free report/e-book, which is totally free and would recommend the same for you if you are serious about your blog and earning income withyour blog.

Once I read, which will most likely be in the next 48 hours – maybe less, I will definitely report back on what I think about it.

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out where I could have a blog to pretty much rant about anything and everything and it came to me as I was looking in to new Twitter user names because I am unhappy with the one I have.

Nadine Blogs! in my mind it couldn’t be more perfect because I have so many websites going on at one time, this is the perfect spot to talk about all of them.

I do hope you will stop by often to see what I am up to in both my business and my personal life. I do have much to say and can only hope you will find it interesting and of value. Thanks for taking the time and I must admit, I don’t really have a “plan” for this blog, so we will have to see where it takes us!
